Francisco Javier Fernández de Trocóniz has been named as BBVA’s head of global trade finance and international financial institutions, based in Madrid.

He replaces Nicholas Shaw, who is moving to London to head up the bank’s corporate banking division there.

Fernández de Trocóniz was previously BBVA’s head of corporate and investment banking for Spain and Portugal, and before that worked in London, where he was in charge of BBVA Northern Europe global corporate banking.

He started in his new position on April 24.
