Riaan Meyer has joined Bank of China as the head of trade finance for Canada.

Meyer will report to the bank’s CEO in Canada, Lijun Wang, and tells GTR that he will be responsible for further developing this business and renminbi settlement in the country.

An experienced businessman and banker, Meyer has a background in structured trade and commodity finance, corporate credit research, equities research, supervisory analysis, wine exports and trade finance.

He is the co-founder and director of BOSA China, and importer and distributor of teas and other beverages in Beijing. He previously worked as international trade director for BKB Asia – where he marketed wine and tea in Asia, associate director at Barclays and has also held roles at Lehman Brothers and Standard & Poor’s.
