The Arab Banking Corporation (Bank ABC) has named Patrick Tan as head of Asia, based in Singapore.

He will manage the Bahraini bank’s wholesale banking, treasury and financial markets business across the region. It coincides with the bank upgrading its Singapore presence to full branch.

Tan joins from Crédit Agricole, where he spent six years as head of corporate coverage in Singapore. Before this he held corporate banking roles with BNP Paribas, DBS and SMBC. Throughout his career, he has focused on banking large multinationals.

Bank ABC’s group CEO Khaled Kawan says: “Upgrading our presence in Singapore to a branch reflects our commitment to our customers in the Mena region and in Asia. This new milestone will put us closer to serve our clients and satisfy their financial needs in this very important financial centre.

“Asia is a key market to the global connectivity of our businesses and their growth in the region. I am very pleased to have Patrick building on our history in Asia and leading our revised plans going forward. His proven track record and deep understanding of our clients’ needs have prepared him well for this role.”

Tan adds: “I am pleased to take up this new role. Bank ABC has already been active in the region for the last three decades. I look forward to working with the rest of the group to accelerate the development of the bank’s business in East Asia.”
