Angolan bank Atlantico has opened its first international branch in Namibia. Atlantico Namibia will be looking to expand investment opportunities for the country’s companies into lusophone countries and their neighbouring regions, including the European Union.

“The launch of Atlantico Namibia reinforces the ambition to develop a multi-geographical financial group, increasing investment opportunities and trade flows between Angola, Namibia and the rest of the world,” says Atlantico’s chairman, Carlos Silva.

Atlantico Namibia will be treated as a branch of Atlantico Europa, the Portugal-based international platform of the Angolan group. As part of the global strategy, Atlantico Europa plans on expanding its activity to Mozambique in the first semester of 2016 and submitting a banking licence application to operate in other European countries.
