ANZ Investment Bank has formed a new group within its leasing and structured asset finance division, which will focus exclusively on the marine transportation and offshore production finance requirements of the natural resources sector. It brings together within one global group ANZ’s liquefied natural gas (LNG) transportation finance business with its floating and mobile offshore production and storage financing activities, as well as other marine transportation and offshore finance activities.

Sven Dybdahl, previously responsible for the bank’s overall leasing and structured asset finance business in Asia, will head the new industry group from Singapore.

Dybdahl will be joined by new appointment Peter Gavan, who will be based in Perth and Singapore. He is an offshore developments and floating production sector specialist and was previously with Australian oil and gas company, Santos Limited, as commercial manager for their fast-track Mutineer/Exeter FPSO project. The team will also initially include Ping Lim, Mark Westley and Elvira Rozajac in London, and Wendy Koh in Singapore.

Commenting on the appointments, Gary Clarke, executive director, leasing and structured asset finance, says: “ANZ remains instinctively a specialist niche player in this area.  We have constructed a significant practice primarily around the LNG transportation sector in the last five years, and more recently started to build in the FPSO market. This will enable us to continue to develop scale and synergies across geographies with the core developers in these sectors of the industrial transportation and offshore services businesses”

Tamzin Lawrence has recently been appointed director, structured debt products, within the leasing and structured asset finance group in London, heading the team responsible for aviation finance in in Europe, Americas, the Middle East and India.

Lawrence joined ANZ’s leasing and structured asset finance business in Australia in 2001 from the structured finance practice of PWC, and moved to London recently.

Beng Kiat Seah has also been appointed to ANZ’s aviation team. Based in Singapore, Beng will assume responsibility for the Asian region and joins ANZ from Singapore Airlines.

The bank’s aviation group comprises also Anthony Panousis, based in Sydney, who joined ANZ from Queensland Treasury Corp.
