ABN Amro has appointed Peter Boogers as global head of energy.

He sits within the energy, commodities and transportation (ECT) division and will report to Maarten Terlouw, global head of ECT.

He has been with the bank since 2009 and has been promoted from his previous role of head of risk management, ECT. Before this he was head of credit risk, merchant banking.

Prior to joining ABN Amro, Boogers worked with MeesPierson for two years from 1995, before moving to Fortis, where he was head of energy, Canada.

Commenting on the appointment, Terlouw says: “Peter’s broad experience in both international energy financing and risk management make him strongly qualified to lead the further development of our global energy business, as we seek to expand our global capabilities beyond the bank’s recognised strength in offshore oil services into upstream and midstream financing.”
