  • Uganda, Maasoum Marzouk, says his government is interested in exploring petroleum in Uganda.

    Marzouk proposed co-operation between the two governments in petroleum exploration. He was meeting energy and mineral development minister Syda Bumba recently.

    “My government is looking forward to co-operating with the Uganda government in the area of petroleum exploration,” Marzouk said.

    Marzouk also wanted to know how far the Ugandan government had gone in petroleum exploration, adding that his government and the private business people had a lot of experience in the field.

    Bumba assured Marzouk that the government had been looking forward to working with Egypt especially in the energy sector.

    She showed the ambassador the oil-rich belt divided into five blocks, stretching from Pakwach to Kasese.
