Vastera, the provider of solutions for global trade management (GTM), has announced that Nestle, the world’s largest food and beverage company, will be using Vastera technology to automate its export documentation processes and speed the delivery of products to market. Vastera TradeSphere Exporter will become part of Nestle’ s Globe (Global Business Excellence) project and will manage the complex shipping documentation and compliance issues associated with cross-border trade. Nestle will be implementing Vastera’s technology in 2005 in Austria, Germany, and the UK.

In addition, Nestle has selected TradeSphere Transit & Statistics as its automated system for speeding and securing the movement of goods within the European Union. Vastera’s solution helps companies comply with the EU’s New Computerised Transit System (NCTS), an initiative designed to provide better management and control of the electronic declarations, regulation and processes associated with intra-European trade.

Globe’s principal purpose is to improve the performance and operational efficiency of Nestle’s businesses worldwide. “Vastera’s TradeSphere solutions are a perfect match for Nestle as the Globe project is designed to increase operational speed and flexibility, facilitate innovation and improve efficiencies,” says Tim Davenport, president and CEO of Vastera. “Our solutions automate the management of complex, ever-changing export documents and controls, thereby enabling Nestle to simplify its export process and operate more cost effectively, in compliance with government regulations.”
