Riza Kadlar has been appointed deputy general manager at Sabanci Bank plc in London. He was previously representative of The Economy Bank NV in Turkey, Istanbul and before that head of financial institutions and forfaiting for the bank in Amsterdam. Kadilar’s responsibilities at Sabanci include management of the bank together with the general manager, company secretary and acting head of corporate and institutional banking.

Kadilar comments: “I want to make Sabanci Bank plc one of the leading banks in Turkey-related trade finance. Being a unique British bank with Turkish shareholders, Sabanci is well placed to become a leading bank in trade finance. It enjoys a Baa1 rating from Moody’, substantial capital (£130mn), a sound deposit base, and up to three-year term structured funding.

“I also aim to continue the sound and reputable management of the bank, to improve financial performance with a sustainable asset growth, at least maintaining the current rating. Furthermore, to help the assets growth of the bank with improving the retail banking franchise.”

Sabanci Bank plc is also considering the option to become a member of the International Forfaiting Association (IFA).
