Société Générale (SG) is creating a new specialist trade team in Geneva as part of the bank’s Zurich branch.

The new team will look at SG’s natural resources and energy financing business in Switzerland to provide specialised trade and commodity financial services to Swiss-based companies.

The natural resources and energy financing business is focused on four areas; project and reserve-based finance for the energy sector; structured commodity finance and mining finance; trade and commodity finance; and Russia and the CIS.

The group will be led by Christian Vez, who worked at Banque Cantonale Vaudoise in Lausanne for just under 15 years in various positions, including head of trade finance, before taking a role as a consultant in specialised trade finance.
