The International Finance Corporation (IFC) has partnered with Belarus bank Belgazprombank to support exporters from the country.

The agreement sees Belgazprombank expand its participation in the IFC’s global trade finance programme by becoming a confirming bank and sharing risk with the IFC in trade finance transactions for importers of Belarusian goods in the CIS, Eastern Europe and the Baltic states.

Belgazprombank joined the IFC’s trade finance programme as an issuing bank in 2009.

Since Belarus joined the IFC in 1992, the corporation has focused on improving the country’s business environment and investment climate, and committed over US$300mn in a projects in the country since 2004.
