Taiwan is set to get a new 57.9MW onshore wind farm from a syndicate led by German banks and with the backing of Euler Hermes.

KfW Ipex-bank is the mandated lead arranger for the €72.3mn loan and is joined by fellow German bank Helaba Landesbank.

The loan is structured using Taiwan’s domestic currency, the Taiwan dollar (TWD), and KfW syndicated the deal out to a number of international and domestic banks to provide TWD liquidity.

The money will be used to build 27 windmills 110km south-west of Taiwan’s capital Taipei.

German wind energy firm Enercon will supply and build the farm, which is due to go online in early 2013.
