The cross-border structured finance (CBSF) unit of ABN Amro in Amsterdam has recently enhanced its Central & Eastern Europe and Central Asia team by recruiting Boris Smetnikov. His primary focus will be deal origination in Russia and Ukraine and is a reflection of the increasing importance of Eastern European markets and especially Russia in medium and long-term trade financing. Smetnikov has joined Ingrid Cijsouw’s team in Amsterdam that also includes Laura Miron, assistant vice-president, who is based in Bucharest.

Cijsouw is head of CBSF for Central & Eastern Europe and Central Asia.

Before joining the team, Smetnikov was involved in country risk management for the bank. Besides risk management and investment banking, he has had substantial exposure to commodity trade activities in the region.
