US law firm King & Spalding has strengthened its energy project finance team in Singapore.

Kelly Malone has joined as a partner from the Singapore office of Norwegian firm Wikborg Rein, where he headed up the global projects team. He brings with him an associate and two lawyers.

At Wikborg Rein, Malone built a practice that undertook over 50 major power projects in 22 countries in Latin America, Africa and Asia.

Ken Culotta, leader of King & Spalding’s global transactions practice group, says of Malone: “His presence and expertise increase our capability in the power and project financing sectors, and allow us to offer the full range of energy services throughout the Asian market, and to expand our roster of clients.”

Malone joins a Singapore-based energy team which includes partners Dan Rogers and Merrick White. King & Spalding hired White from Clifford Chance in October. The firm has over 250 lawyers working in its energy sector across the world.
