ABN Amro has appointed Qiu Zhi Zhong as a vice-chairman of the bank in Asia, and chairman of ABN Amro, China.



Qiu will be responsible for the development of all ABN’s businesses in China. This is a new appointment and is effective immediately.



Throughout the 1990s, Qiu held various senior investment banking and financial products positions at Credit Suisse First Boston, and originated transactions with a broad range of corporations, financial institutions and government entities. He was a managing director and chairman of Greater China at Credit Suisse First Boston.



Jeroen Drost, Asia CEO at ABN says; “We are delighted that Zhi Zhong is bringing his considerable knowledge of banking in Greater China to ABN Amro. His wealth of experience, relationships and network in China and elsewhere will complement our strategy of delivering local client intimacy and global product capabilities together to build a successful banking business in this important market”.



Qiu will remain as chairman of Q Capital, his own advisory and merchant banking business with which ABN Amro is aiming to develop a closer strategic and business partnership in the areas of investment banking advisory, principal investment, and private equity in China.
