UC Rusal has resumed production at the Alpart and Windalco alumina refineries in Jamaica, after they were suspended ahead of Hurricane Dean. The facilities remained undamaged.
Alpart Alumina Refinery is near the Jamaican town of Mandeville, and employs 781 people. It has a production capacity of 1.65mn tonners per year, and the bauxite used for the production of alumina is extracted from the facilities own bauxite mines.

Windalco or West Indies Alumina Company comprises of two refineries, a shipping port at Port Esquivel, bauxite mines and farms. It has a production of 1.2mn tonnes of alumina annually.
