Aluminium producer UC Rusal has made a number of senior management appointments to its American subsidiary, in an effort to strengthen its North American activities.

Sergey Bubnov has been selected as the new president of Rusal America, reporting the American board. Richard Kellner is joining the subsidiary as chief operating officer, where he will take responsibility for running finance, accounting and internal controls.
Mark Bodner has also been hired as sales director, and along with Kellner will be reporting to Bubnov. Following these new appointments, the former president of Rusal America Bruce Markowitz is set to leave the company.

“Since UC RUSAL entered the market through our predecessor company in 1999, we have built a strong platform in North America that has enabled us to grow the business in excess of US$1bn in annual revenues.  We wish to thank Bruce Markowitz for his contributions to the company over the last six years and his role in building out our sales and marketing infrastructure in North America,” remarks Vladimir Kremer, director of sales and marketing at Rusal America.

Newly appointed president Bubnov has moved to UC Rusal from Ferromin, where he was director of the Moscow representative office for metals trading since February 2006.
Kellner has moved from Next Chapter Associates, a risk management and insurance advisory firm he founded. Bodner brings 31 years of experience in the aluminium industry, and has particularly specialised in trading.
