Mining-related tax revenues will rise six-fold this year in Bolivia, the Bolivian daily La Razon quotes mining minister Guillermo Dalence as saying. The move was anticipated by GTR in the July/August issue, page 79.

“The country is losing money on a day-to-day basis,” Dalence adds.

Authorities say mining exports possibly reached US$1bn in 2006, but yielded just US$45mn in taxes, according to the newspaper.
