William Marsteller, an economist with US Ex-Im Bank since 1996, has been named chief economist and vice-president of the Country Risk and Economic Analysis Division (CREA). In that capacity Marsteller will oversee day-to-day operations of the division.

Since joining Ex-Im, Marsteller has been involved with the Inter-Agency Country Risk Assessment System (ICRAS), which determines country risk ratings utilised for all US government international loans, guarantees and insurance. He also is the bank’s representative to the OECD Country Risk Experts’ Group, which sets country risk classifications for OECD member export credit agencies.

Marsteller’s work in CREA has focused on the countries of the former Soviet Union and Eastern Europe, country risk methodology, and economic analysis of issues that affect Ex-Im business.
