Embraer has announced a contract with the government of Colombia for the sale of 25 Super Tucano aircraft. The value of the contract is US$235mn and marks the first ever Super Tucano export deal.

 

The aircraft acquired by Colombia will be operated by the country’s air force in internal security and border patrol missions. The contract is supported by Brazilian development bank BNDES.


The Colombian Air Force (FAC) operates 14 Tucano basic training aircraft produced by Embraer. These were purchased in the 1990s.


The contract includes comprehensive logistics and systems training package with a full flight simulator.
