Argentina’s YPF Energía Eléctrica has received a US$200mn syndicated loan for the development of the 100 MW Manantiales Behr wind farm in the south of the country.

The loan was structured by the Inter-American Investment Corporation (IIC), part of the Inter-American Development Bank (IADB), and consists of a US$100mn nine-year A loan and a US$100mn six-year B loan. The participating banks are BBVA, Banco Santander and Citibank.

The project includes a 20km transmission line and is located about 40km northeast of the city of Comodoro Rivadavia. It will save the country 245,311 tonnes of carbon dioxide equivalent a year and support its goal of generating 20% of its energy from renewable sources by 2025.
