Commodity trading company DVK Group has launched a new office in Malawi as part of its expansion plans in the Africa region.

The office will be spearheaded by DVK Group’s founder and chairman, Deepak Kuntawala.

Kamal Patel and Morgan Tembo will jointly lead the team, which will extend the group’s structured trade and commodity financing services to sectors such as energy, automotive, aviation and agriculture. The group’s activities will also be made available through its Africa-focused agricultural hedge fund, which on average advises on assets of US$150mn a year.

Via its trade and financing platforms, DVK Malawi will also enter into several private and public sector infrastructure and development partnerships. It also has plans to build an aviation business to include cargo sectors and create substantial commodity trading ventures.
