Nordic Region trade finance community gather in Stockholm for major trade conference
Global Trade Review (GTR) returned to Stockholm to host the annual Nordic Region Trade & Export Finance Conference, taking place at the Radisson Blu Waterfront on November 25-26.
With full support and endorsement from over 35 of the market’s leading institutions including SEB, Nordea, Amcham Sweden, Kreditforsakringsforeninger, Nortrade and more, this highly anticipated two-day conference attracted 395 business leaders and provided extensive networking opportunities for domestic, regional and international financial institutions, SMEs and MNCs, policy makers and trade finance specialists.
The event commenced with an opening introduction from Thomas Gur, Journalist & Broadcaster followed by a keynote address from Annika Winsth, Chief Economist, Nordea, who outlined an economist’s view: Matching the Nordic trade footprint with an evolving world economy. Additional speakers from the likes of Volvo, Siemens, Konecranes, Nokia, Huawei, Valmet and Metsä Group also shared their experiences.
“The key theme at this year’s meeting was global volatility. The success of Nordic exporters across the globe is the envy of many, but this naturally leads to exposure to numerous external risks, particularly in today’s environment of stagnation in key developed and emerging economies, geopolitical strife, and the challenging conditions being seen across physical commodities markets” said George Mitchell, Senior Conference Producer. “Appetite for this year’s GTR conference was unprecedented – the Nordic region’s leading exporters will be providing their perspective on the key challenges being faced across the international trade sector, and the financing and risk management techniques being used to facilitate and sustain global supply chains, export flows and foreign investments.”
With so many high-level delegates in attendance, networking offered a key feature throughout both days. A dedicated networking lunch, an evening drinks reception and specific networking platforms provided ample opportunities for anyone serious about doing business in the region to create new business contacts and build relationships with the market’s main players.
