The need to facilitate the rapid growth in global trade is a bedrock for all nations, banks and corporates. Even more so as this area has been experiencing change in the last ten years with the growth in supply chain financing and the increasing popularity of sustainable trade finance, the push for digitalisation and emergence of new fintechs and technology and the creation of new legal frameworks and digital standards. There is a growing need to provide well-structured leading-edge content by recognised experts and highly experienced trainers in the field.

This course targets students who want to opt for a commercial banking career and trade professionals who want to enhance their career in banks, corporates and fintechs. It is designed to provide a strong understanding on the fundamental aspects of global trade finance as well the emerging trends.

Structured over two modules, the first module focuses on the concept of working capital and trade finance in the corporate and banking context. The second module will centre on the various types of risks and mitigants within trade finance and also the emerging needs in the industries followed by an assessment.

The delivery of this course is highly interactive, with plenty of opportunities for students to discuss the topics covered in the course and relate them directly to their own work and experience in trade finance.

David is Senior Technical Advisor for the ICC Banking Commission and former Chief Examiner for the LIBF Certificate in International Trade Finance (CITF®).

David co-chaired the ICC Working Group on the e-compatibility of ICC digital rules, leading to the release of eUCP Version 2.0 & eURC Version 1.0, and contributed as technical advisor to the drafting and publication of the ICC Uniform Rules for Digital Trade Transactions.

He has recently been appointed as Digital Rules Advisor to the ICC Centre for Digital Trade and Innovation (C4DTI).
