For well over a decade, GTR Africa Trade & Export Finance Week has been a crucial networking and discussion forum for Africa’s corporates, financiers, trade specialists, ECAs and service providers. Returning to Cape Town for another year the event was held at Cape Town International Convention Centre on March 1-2.
The conference received an overwhelming response from delegates and provided extensive opportunities to create new business, meet industry experts, and receive a comprehensive and detailed update on Africa. Topics discussed included Africa trade flows, commodity and infrastructure finance, exploring innovative funding solutions available to African corporates, identifying key African trade hotspots and project opportunities, reviewing political risks, big data & the role of fintech in Africa, and more.
Event highlights:
- The CEO panel discussion: Sharing views from the top across key African industries
- Classroom-style breakout sessions offering practical insight on trade and commodity finance market trends
- Interactive showcase: Compare long-term financing options for Sub-Saharan Africa
- Corporate Treasury Workshop held in association with The Association of Corporate Treasurers of Southern Africa (ACTSA)
- Deal-analysis: A live brokerage session providing deep understanding of how Sub-Saharan trade underwriting decisions are made
- The role of fintech in Africa: Sessions included paper vs data: the potential for blockchain in Africa and big data: the evolving needs of agribusiness
- Case studies: ‘The rise of robots’: An African perspective & ‘Let there be light’: Powering up women’s development
