Norton Rose Fulbright has hired Frankfurt-based Kathrin Marchant as a partner in its global banking and finance practice, specialising in export credit agency-backed and commercial financing.
Marchant joins after 20 years at Baker McKenzie, where she held roles in Frankfurt, Paris and Munich and was named as a partner in 2011.
Norton Rose Fulbright said Marchant, who is dual-qualified in Germany and England, brings experience in advising clients on complex debt finance transactions, particularly in emerging markets on export credit agency-covered (ECA) projects.
Marchant said there is “great potential for growth in the area of agency finance, particularly in Germany”.
The firm has worked on transactions “involving almost every single ECA” it said, with its global agency finance team also working closely with development finance institutions, multilateral agencies and commercial banks.
“With Kathrin’s arrival, we gain a highly accomplished practitioner with outstanding emerging markets knowledge and immense technical experience,” said Norton Rose Fulbright’s Germany head, Stefan Feuerriegel.
“Her profile strengthens our team and expands our advisory offering, particularly for export financing, in Germany and internationally.”
Marchant’s appointment follows this month’s promotion of two London-based export finance lawyers to partner status, both based in London.
