Jean to lead Crédit Agricole ECA business as Gazal retires

Crédit Agricole CIB has announced that Thibaut Jean has taken up the role of global head of export credit agency (ECA) and multilateral financing solutions, with industry veteran André Gazal set to retire.

Jean has spent nearly 20 years at the Paris-headquartered lender, and has headed trade finance and structuring teams as well as launching an asset distribution desk for its international trade and transaction banking (ITB) division.

Since January 2022, he has been ITB head in charge of French corporates, based in Paris.

Jean took up the role on November 1 and reports to Crédit Agricole’s global head of international trade and transaction banking, Yves-Marie Gayet

Gazal, who has spent much of his two decades at the bank as global head of export finance and has also held banking roles in the US and Canada, retires “after a successful career within Crédit Agricole group”, the announcement says.

Crédit Agricole says ECA and multilateral financing is “key” to the bank’s ambitions, with a presence in 21 countries, and Jean is tasked with continuing the expansion of this business.
