Paul Carrington has been named head of Europe and senior director at trade credit insurance specialist Navitas Assurance Partners.
The London-based role has been created to formally launch the European branch of Navitas, which provides credit insurance in the energy sector to traders, banks and corporates.
Carrington will be responsible for supporting the trade and lending activities of European traders, corporates and financial institutions across both the short- and medium-term.
Previously, Carrington was senior underwriter for credit and political risk at Brit Insurance, where he spent the last four years. He joined Brit from Gazprom, where he held a contract role for one year as credit risk manager.
Earlier roles include credit and political risk underwriter at London-headquartered insurer Neon from 2017 to 2020, and underwriter and analyst in Chubb’s credit and political risk team from 2014 to 2017.
Navitas is an established managing general underwriter (MGU) in North America and plans to grow its team in Europe throughout 2026, the firm says.
The business was founded in 2022 by Jay Rose, who spent more than 16 years at Euler Hermes and launched Euler Hermes Energy , a sector-specific trade credit team, in 2015.
The MGU, an entity authorised by third-party insurers to underwrite policies, acts as a conduit between the energy markets, brokers and carriers.
It is backed by Alliant Underwriting Solutions, a subsidiary of Alliant, the largest privately held insurance broker globally.
