UK professional membership body, Institute of Export and International Trade (IOE&IT), has appointed Lord Stephen Green as its new president.

Green served as the UK’s minister of state for trade and investment from 2011 to 2013. His remit included promoting UK industry overseas for both the former Department for Business, Innovation and Skills and the Foreign and Commonwealth Office.

Prior to that Green, a former Mckinsey consultant, was chairman of HSBC from 2006 to 2010. He joined the bank in 1982 and worked in various roles, including CEO, within the global group.

Green will take over from James Davis, who stepped down at the end of last year having been in the role for over 20 years.
