The African Export-Import Bank (Afreximbank) has appointed Samallie Kiyingi as director of legal services.

She joins Afreximbank after having worked as an independent consultant in London for three years, advising on capital markets in Sub-Saharan African.

Kiyingi previously held various legal roles at BACB, Deutsche Bank, Clifford Chance and Ashurst.

In her new role, Kiyingi will be in charge of all legal matters related to Afreximbank’s business, including the documentation for its loan and guarantee facilities, review of bond issuance and equity investment.

Kiyingi, a Ugandan national, will be based in the bank’s headquarters in Cairo and will report to George Elombi, executive vice-president of corporate governance and legal services.
