Turkey Trade & Export Finance Conference 2016

Sorry, this event has now taken place and is no longer bookable.

Istanbul once again played host to GTR’s Turkey Trade & Export Finance Conference 2016, taking place at The Shangri-La Hotel on March 22-23. The event is now the largest trade finance gathering in Turkey for those companies undertaking international trade and investment, while providing a key forum for their financial sector partners to meet and discuss future priorities. This year’s conference welcomed over 300 senior representatives from across the corporate, financial and state sectors, who were keen to discuss the latest trade and financing opportunities with their industry peers.

Reflecting the crucial role of Turkish exports in maintaining economic growth and the challenges currently being faced by businesses operating out of Turkey, a host of high-profile speakers participated at the two-day conference including Bader Arslan, Secretary-General, Turkish Exporters’ Association (TIM), Pinar Artiran, Director, Research Centre on International Trade Law & Arbitration, Ahmet Cimenoglu, Chief Economist, Koc Holding, and Emma Edhem CC, Chairman, Turkish British Chamber of Commerce & Industry. They were joined on the conference programme by leading institutions such as GS Banque Geneva, International Islamic Trade Finance Corporation (ITFC), US Exim, Sem Plastik, DEIK, UniCredit and more, providing an ideal forum for debates surrounding intra-regional trade and infrastructure development to take place.

“The Turkish market remains one of the most vibrant and fast moving across Global Trade Review’s global footprint”, said George Mitchell, Senior Conference Producer at GTR. “The decisive result of Turkish national elections last November provided some respite from a prolonged period of uncertainty for the region’s corporates and financiers, and was broadly welcomed by the international business community. Now focus can be concentrated on finding solutions to business challenges such as the volatile situation in Mena impacting some of Turkey’s primary regional trading partners, and the tough conditions gripping global financial markets. Finding alternative destinations for trade and exports is a speciality of Turkey’s corporate sector. As always the conference agenda covered all the latest global trade opportunities, and the financing options enabling companies to capitalise.”

In order to maximise delegate interaction, the two-day event incorporated numerous networking breaks throughout the course of both days, while dual content streams allowed for comprehensive topic coverage. The evening drinks reception on day one gave attendees the opportunity to continue discussions in a more informal setting.
