Export Development Canada (EDC) has appointed Pierre Gignac as senior vice-president, short-term financial services. Gignac takes over from Rolfe Cooke, who is retiring after a career at EDC spanning 15 years.

EDC’s short-term financial services group provides risk management services, mainly short-term accounts receivable insurance, to over 5,000 Canadian companies a year to help them compete in the international marketplace.

Gignac most recently served as vice-president, short-term credit and risk assessment. Before that he was vice-president, insurance and loans services. He joined EDC in April 1999 as director, claims and insurance accounting in the finance group. Between 1984 and 1999, Gignac held various positions with increasing responsibilities at Metropolitan Life Insurance Company.
