Swedish export credit agency, EKN, has opened up for short-term guarantees for West African state Benin. EKN previously had no policy fixed on Benin as there has been no demand from this market, says the agency.

The current political situation in Benin is deemed to be relatively stable, it claims.

However, Benin is still one of the poorest countries in Africa. EKN is now open mainly for private buyers and banks. Public buyers will only be considered in aid-related transactions.
