SG, the corporate and investment banking arm of the Société Générale Group, has announced the appointment of William (Bill) Schmid as global head of project finance. He replaces Jacob Worenklein who has decided to leave SG to pursue an entrepreneurial initiative.

Schmid is currently managing director and regional head of project finance for

  • Europe. He started with SG in 1983 in the US, where he worked on corporate and project finance activities in oil and gas. In 1999, he moved to Paristo take on his current position, where he has successfully grown SG’s European project finance franchise.

Schmid started his banking career at Morgan Guaranty Trust Company in New Yorkin 1978, before joining Barclays Bank’s oil and gas practice in 1980.
