China Trade & Commodity Finance Conference 2016
Fairmont Peace Hotel, Shanghai
November, 22, 2016
Global Trade Review returned to China, to host the China Trade & Commodity Finance Conference 2016, on November 22.
Shanghai, the new host city for 2016’s event, provided as a key meeting point for business leaders and experts from the Chinese trade finance community. Over 190 attended the conference, including domestic, regional and international financial institutions, local SMEs and global corporates, policy makers, lawyers, specialist trade finance and experts conducting trade business within China.
Topics covered over the course of the one-day event included a keynote address by Jean-Pierre Lehman, Founder of Evian Group and Emeritus Professor of International Political Economy, IMD, Lausanne, Switzerland, who analysed infrastructure, OBOR and the New Silk Road and what it essentially meant for trade. Other discussions included a practical overview and corporate guide to doing business in China, followed by a panel of industry experts providing insight into key considerations and the ease of doing business in the country. A classroom-style breakout then allowed attendees the chance to ‘have their say’ on issues with a panel of industry experts who directed discussions on four key topics; supply chain finance, SMEs, digitisation and trade based money laundering.
GTR’s exemplary conference format included several networking breaks throughout the conference providing ample opportunities for attendees to meet with the market’s primary decision makers, giving delegates the chance to become re-acquainted with old contacts and foster new working relationships with those keen to do business across China.
