  • Deutsche takes on Smith

Deutsche Bank (DB) has taken on Stuart Smith as a managing director and head of corporate commodity sales for Asia, excluding Japan.

Singapore-based Smith will report regionally to Venky Vishwanathan and Daniel Mamadou, co-heads of corporate coverage and debt capital markets for Asia, excluding Japan, and globally to Brian Cumming, global head of oil sales and origination.

Vishwanathan comments: “Stuart’s broad range of industry and financial services experience strengthens our coverage capabilities at a time when demand for our commodity-linked financing, leasing and inventory monetisation products in Asia continues to grow.”

Smith joins DB from JP Morgan, where he was responsible for corporate energy coverage for Australia and Southeast Asia.

Before his role at JP Morgan, Smith was an executive director and head of LNG trading at Goldman Sachs, where he established the bank’s LNG spot trading business.
