Korea Eximbank joins IADB's TFFP

Last Updated March 28, 2012

The Export-Import Bank of Korea (Korea Eximbank) has joined the Inter-American Development Bank’s (IADB) trade finance facilitation programme (TFFP) as a confirming bank.

Under the TFFP, the IADB offers trade finance co-lending facilities and guarantees to support participating banks with increasing their trade finance businesses.

The IADB’s potential to further expand the volume of business between Asia, Latin America and the Caribbean is significant, says Daniela Carrera-Marquis, chief of the financial markets division at the IADB’s structured and corporate finance department.

Woo-taek Suh, Korea Eximbank’s director general, interbank export finance department, adds: “Through this partnership we are combining the IADB’s local market expertise and reputation in Latin America with the Korea Eximbank’s highly regarded experience in providing export credit and guarantees to support Korean enterprises’ overseas business. The collaboration is a win-win for both organisations, and we hope to expand trade for new and existing players in Korea and the Latin American and the Caribbean region.”
