Brazilian helicopter company Líder Taxi Aéreo, Air Brasil has signed a US$75.7mn loan agreement with the Private Export Funding Corporation (PEFCO) to finance the purchase of three Sikorsky Aircraft Corporation S-92 helicopters.
US Exim will provide a loan guarantee on the transaction.
Líder Taxi plans to use the helicopters to shuttle its staff and equipment to offshore oil platforms. The purchase will also help maintain a healthy US-based supply chain for the aircraft, Bob Kokorda, Sikorsky’s vice-president for sales and marketing says in a statement.
US Exim chairman and president Fred Hochberg adds: "The financing support for these helicopters illustrates the unique ability of US Exim to provide essential financing to ensure American exporters can compete in the international marketplace. Our support levelled the playing field and kept 500 highly-skilled American workers in jobs."
Headquartered in Stratford, Conneticut Sikorsky Aircraft Corporation is a manufacturer of commercial and military helicopters. Its S-92 model is a heavy-mission helicopter designed for offshore transport, medical emergencies, and search-and-rescue missions.
Brazil is one of US Exim’s nine key markets, accounting for US$2.7bn of its worldwide credit exposure. This transaction will become the bank’s sixth with Líder Taxi Aéreo since 2004.
