Enerjisa gets financing for milestone power project

Turkish electrical company Enerjisa has signed a €750mn (US$920mn) credit agreement with 11 international banks to finance the Tufanbeyli thermal power plant in Turkey’s Adana region.

Lenders on the deal include Société Générale, UniCredit, HSBC, Raiffeisen Bank International, The Bank of Tokyo-Mitsubishi UFJ, BNP Paribas, Fortis Bank, Akbank, Deutsche Bank, Natixis and Erste Group Bank.

Korea’s Trade Insurance Corporation K-Sure is insuring the majority of the loan, Enerjisa says in a statement.

The 450MW Enerjisa Tufanbeyli thermal power plant will become the biggest lignite power plant investment in Turkey’s private sector, and will generate electricity by using local resources.

The project also includes the development and operation of an adjacent mine as a dedicated source of feedstock to the power plant.

Enerjisa has signed a lump-sum engineering, procurement, construction (EPC) contract with Korean firm SK Engineering & Construction, Japanese firm ITOCHU Corporation and SK E&C Anadolu Engineering and Construction Company for the plant, which is planned to start operations in 2015.
