Standard Chartered launches premium China-Africa network

Last Updated March 15, 2010

Standard Chartered Nigeria will launch a premium small and medium enterprise (SME) China-Africa network.

The network is designed to build and improve relationships with Chinese-owned SMEs in Africa with unique banking services, such as Chinese-speaking bank managers, access to branches in China for cross-border banking and competitive trade services.

Christopher Knight, Standard Chartered Nigeria’s chief executive officer, says: “Despite the current global financial crisis, the economic partnership between Africa and China has slowly extended beyond the supply of natural resources.

“The development of trade relationships between Africa, China and the rest of Asia is laying the foundations for further trade diversification – a mutually beneficial development during the current global economic environment.”
