Cotecna extends customs inspection contract

Last Updated April 07, 2010

Trade service solutions provider Cotecna’s Mexico subsidiary has agreed an extension to its customs inspection contract with Servicios de Administración Tributaria (SAT).

The unique contract, which has been extended to December 2010, is intended to reduce fraud and prevent the use of forged documentation or triangulation that may conceal the origin of goods.

The service is split into three main sections, including: physical and documentary revision of imported goods to determine their nature and quantity; verification of goods and foreign origin to ensure they are headed for the correct destination and the verification of the existence or physical location of the supplier, producer or buyer.

Cotecna provides equipment and infrastructure to enable constant real-team communication with SAT, as well as permanent internet access to a digital database.
