Japan’s Nippon Export and Investment Insurance (Nexi) and Belarusbank have signed a memorandum of understanding (MOU) to promote trade and investment between the two countries.
The purpose of the MOU is to establish a framework of cooperation, and to strengthen information exchange and cooperative structure in areas of export credit insurance and guarantee.
As such, the two institutions agree to share information and to propose possible joint projects to be implemented in each other’s country or in a third country.
The institutions will share expertise and experience regarding specific underwritten transactions and country risk analyses; exchange views concerning increasing cooperation in areas of interest; and carry out mutual visits, training of staff, and so forth.
The signing ceremony was held in Tokyo in the presence of Belarus deputy foreign minister, Sergei Aleinik, on December 1.
Nexi has signed only two such agreements with institutions in the CIS, namely with Vnesheconombank (Russia) and Ukreximbank (Ukraine).
