Parson leaves Clyde for Reed Smith

Last Updated May 29, 2008

Robert Parson is to become a partner at Reed Smith, and will be heading up the law firm's trade finance team. Parson will be moving from his role as partner at Clyde & Co.

Joining Parson at Reed Smith will be the rest of his current Clyde & Co team, as well as new colleagues already working at Reed Smith. Parson used to work at Reed Smith in the late 80s when the firm was known as Richards Butler. He will be officially taking up his new position as of June 2.

In May Reed Smith announced that all its businesses in Europe and the Middle East trading under the name Reed Smith Richards Butler and Reed Smith Rambaud Charot will now trade under the brand name Reed Smith. This change follows the changes in brand name made to Reed Smith Sachnoff & Weaver in Chicago which took place in March 1.

However, the firm's Hong Kong branch will continue to trade as Richards Butler in Association with Reed Smith for the foreseeable future, in line with Hong Kong regulatory issues.
