McIntyre joins the bank from Hong Kong where he worked for six years as the head of marketing for ScotiaMocatta and Natixis commodity markets. During this period, he was responsible for developing several new precious and base metals risk management products for Asian clients. McIntyre has also worked as part of the Commonwealth Bank of Australia/ScotiaMocatta strategic alliance in Sydney and for the Bank of Nova Scotia in Toronto.
"This is a new position based on the growth aspirations of the bank. My focus is to look for trade financing deals broadly in commodities but also with a metals focus. On the commodities side, there are a number of opportunities because to a great extent a lot of the metals or commodities that are being produced are also being consumed in Asia. This in itself provides greater financing opportunities for Asian companies, whether it's a gold mine in Laos, a copper smelter in China or a rice producer in Thailand,” comments McIntyre.
