HFW announces eight new partners

Last Updated May 13, 2008
Holman Fenwick Willan (HFW), a law firm focusing on maritime transportation, insurance, reinsurance and trade, has announced the election of eight new partners across its global network of offices, including three at its London base.

The City partners promoted are international commodity and trade shipping specialist Sarah Taylor, who is involved in dispute resolution relating to both physical and derivative commodity transactions; Adam Shire, who works on marine transportation and aviation asset finance, and Martin Dalby in the admiralty team. The firm has also appointed Kaare Langeland to the position of senior manager, a role equivalent to partner. Langeland has 13 years of experience working at an underwriter claims consultants.

In the Shanghai office, Nicolas Poynder has been promoted to partner and will work principally on shipping issues for both Chinese and international clients.

Chris Chan and Steven Wise will practise in the Hong Kong office and specialise in commercial litigation in the fields of shipping, international trade and commodities.

Barry Stimpson brings over eleven years' experience handling international trade, transport and insurance disputes in the English, Hong Kong and Australian courts and his practice in the Singapore office will cover a broad spectrum of local and international maritime and insurance litigation, arbitration and commercial matters.

Assuming the responsibility of partnership in the Paris office is Xavier MacDonald, who joined HFW in 1998. MacDonald will concentrate on shipping matters and insurance disputes.

"It is really satisfying to promote so many 'home grown' people and equally rewarding to see our talented lawyers in different offices becoming partners. It is a testament to the continuing growth and development of the firm,” comments Holman Fenwick senior partner Richard Crump.
