Tejari, the United Arab Emirates' (UAE) leading online trading site, recently signed a strategic cooperation agreement with the Milan chamber of commerce to boost trade between companies in Italy and the UAE.
Omar Hijazi, CEO of Tejari, says: "Expanding our services to Italy is extremely significant as it validates the growing strength and momentum of Tejari and it underlines the growing strategic value of emerging markets for G7 countries.
This alliance has created a powerful platform that will easily connect Milanese and Lombardian businesses with the Middle Eastern region." Under this agreement, Tejari will build a dedicated online trading community portal for the companies affiliated to the Milan Chamber of Commerce through which they will be able to trade online with the largest buyer network in the Middle East. In 2007, trade between Italy and UAE topped AED10bn [US$2.724bn], with fashion and furniture products as well as engineering and interior design services leading in terms of Italian exports.
