StanChart appoints senior roles in corporate finance and origination

Last Updated March 27, 2008

Standard Chartered has made three senior appointments in corporate finance and origination and client coverage in Asia.

Sean Wallace has been hired as new group head of corporate finance, taking over from Vis Shankar who will now focus on his roles as group head of origination and client coverage, as well as chairman of principal finance and private banking.

Wallace joins Standard Chartered from Franklin Templeton's private equity arm, Darby Overseas Investment, where he headed up their Asian operations. His previous roles also included senior positions at JPMorgan and Merrill Lynch.

At StanChart he will be part of the wholesale banking management group, and report directly to Mike Ress, chief executive officer for wholesale banking.

Charles Alexander has been appointed as the new regional head of origination and client coverage for northeast Asia. He replaces Andrew Bester who is now chief financial officer of the bank's consumer banking business.

Alexander joins from Lehman Brothers, where he was head of Asia corporate finance. He has also held senior roles at JPMorgan and McKinsey & Company. He will be reporting directly to Vis Shankar.

Rahul Goswamy, current global head of corporate advisory, will become the global head of the strategic client coverage group. In the newly created role, Goswamy will monitor key client relationships of the bank. He will report directly to Vis Shankar, and his replacement will be announced shortly.
