Aspen Insurance hires political risk head

Last Updated February 15, 2008

Aspen Insurance Holdings has appointed Bernard de Haldevang as head of political risk insurance. Haldevang reports directly to Mathew Yeldham, Aspen's head of international insurance.

Haldevang brings over 20 years experience of underwriting political risk insurance to his new role. He joins Aspen from Atrium Underwriting, at Lloyd's of London where he was a member of the syndicate management group and class underwriter for financial and political risks.

Aspen provides reinsurance and insurance coverage to domestic and global markets through its wholly-owned subsidiaries and offices in Bermuda, France, the US and Switzerland.

The insurer is expecting that gross written premium from this new line of business in political risk insurance will be approximately US$70 million after three years subject to market conditions.
