AFD supports SMEs in Turkey

Last Updated February 28, 2008

Agence Francaise de Developpement (AFD) has signed a €80mn loan for Turkey's Halkbank. The loan is intended to target Turkish small and medium-sized enterprises (SMEs) in less developed regions of the country.

AFD has previously worked with Halkbank, extending a €50mn credit line to the bank in 2006. Funds from this facility were used to support hundreds of SMEs in the Anatolia region and other priority regions.

Proparco, a subsidiary of AFD, has also signed a € 50mn credit line with Turkish bank Akbank in February. The loan will be used to finance the bank's SME clients.
