The software and services company Misys has appointed Graeme Beardsell as regional manager for Asia Pacific.

He will be based in Singapore, and will take responsibility for managing strategy, business development, sales and day-to-day operations for Misys in the region, across its solutions for banking and solutions for treasury & capital markets business units.

Beardsell joins Misys from salesforce.com where he was regional vice-president of sales and operations, playing a key role in setting up the company’s Asian operations.

He has also previously held the role of director of Asia Pacific Telecom Solutions at IBM Global Services based in Hong Kong.

Commenting on his appointment, Beardsell says:  “Asia Pacific contains several exciting markets where banks are innovating and increasing their global competitiveness. In the next year, we will leverage our experience in markets like China, Hong Kong, Taiwan, Japan, Australia, India and across ASEAN to deliver valuable software solutions to financial institutions in the region to enable fast time to market for new financial instruments and strong risk management practices.”

To date, Misys has been very active in China, and the wider Asian region. In January this year, the company formed a strategic alliance with Digital China Financial Software, China’s largest financial information technology service provider, to deliver a new, hosted, banking solution targeted at an estimated 30,000 small and medium-sized banks in China.

The company has also provided capital markets software solutions for China Everbright Bank and Bank of China, in mainland China, and for Wing Hang Bank in Hong Kong.
